Technology
with a soul.
What makes us human, preserved.
We develop technology that serves all of mankind — responsibly, ethically, and with lasting positive impact. Projects graduate. The lab endures.
Why we exist.
A laboratory is a commitment to method, not to any single outcome.
A world where technology is a positive force for the development of all mankind — where access to transformative tools is not gated by wealth, geography, or privilege.
Develop technology that serves mankind, responsibly, ethically, and with lasting positive impact. Every mission under the Æ umbrella is a test of whether that commitment holds under real-world pressure.
An R&D lab — not a venture studio, not a holding company. A laboratory where ideas are explored, validated, and — when ready — launched as independent ventures. Projects graduate. The lab endures.
Five tie-breakers.
When strategy and ethics pull apart, these resolve it.
Ambition
Incremental thinking produces incremental outcomes. We build for the world, not the quarter.
Righteousness
Do what is right — not what is easy, not what is profitable. The two are not always in conflict, but when they are, this ends the debate.
Openness
Build in the open: methods, reasoning, mistakes. The work speaks for itself when we stop hiding the seams.
Exploring
Stay curious and uncomfortable. Question orthodoxy before it is safe to do so. The edge is where the work matters.
Transparency
Full accountability on data practices, business models, and impact. Trust is not claimed — it is earned through radical openness.
Five declarations.
Written down so that we can be held to them.
For All Mankind
We exist to build technology that serves all of mankind—not a select few.
Humans at the Center
We put humans at the center of every product, every technology, every decision.
Earned Trust
We are transparent about our data, our methods, and our failures. Trust is not claimed—it is earned through radical openness.
Owned Impact
We take full responsibility for the impact of what we create. If it harms, we own it. If it excludes, we fix it.
Principled Courage
We are brave enough to refuse growth that compromises our principles, and brave enough to ship what the world needs before the market asks for it.
We are Ænima Labs.
Six non-negotiables.
These are not a tax on the business. They are the moat.
Human First
Every product starts with a human need, not a market opportunity.
Radical Transparency
Open about methods, data use, limitations, and failures — always.
Responsible Scale
Grow only when growth serves the mission. Never the other way around.
Inclusive by Design
Technological progress should ultimately be accessible to all, not protected behind privilege.
Planetary Stewardship
Environmental and societal impact are accounted for in every decision, not offset afterwards.
No Harm Threshold
If we cannot prove it helps more than it risks, we do not ship it.
Four gates. One standard.
Every project passes through the same sequence. Validation is the hardest gate. Nothing graduates without it.
Explore
Is there a real human problem worth solving? Is there a credible mechanism to solve it?
Validate
Do customers exist, will they pay, and can we serve them sustainably? Kill criteria set before we start.
Kodama is hereBuild
Construct the full product and organisation. Only after validation confirms a credible path to value.
Launch
Graduate as an independent venture under the Æ umbrella. The lab's stake, reputation, and standards travel with it.
Kodama
an Ænima Labs ventureA trusted friend who carries your story.
Kodama is a consented identity-continuity service. A person, while alive, is guided through a structured capture process — their knowledge, values, reasoning, and way of seeing the world. The output is not an impersonation.
It is a trusted friend of the donor: a conversational counterpart that speaks about them with warmth and authority to the people who come after. The donor authors their own continuity. Their heirs receive the right to access — and the right to refuse.
Kodama (木霊) is the Japanese word for a spirit that dwells in an ancient tree, and for the echo it sends back through the forest. Rooted and patient. Present without possessing.
What comes next.
One mission is active. The others stay deliberately unstarted until it clears its gate.
Kodama
AI identity & knowledge continuation. The question of what we leave behind, answered by those who are still here.
Project Alpha
Climate & sustainability. The planetary stakes are not abstract. We intend to build in them.
Project Beta
Health & wellbeing. The boundary between care and technology is the most consequential design problem of the decade.
Project Gamma
Education & knowledge access. A generation inherits a world shaped by decisions they were not invited to make.
Who we are.
Two founders with deliberately different centres of gravity.
